Meet the Kavalri - Barbara
Who are you, and what do you do at Kavalri?
I am Barbara and I am the Product Analyst at Kavalri Games.
What’s the best thing about working at Kavalri Games?
The absolute best thing about working at Kavalri Games are the people. They are all great human beings, with big hearts and great passion about what they are doing. Each one of them is incredibly smart, creative and you can feel a sense of community and family when you are in the office with them. Every day I wake up and I am happy to do my job; it doesn't feel like working at all! That's the magic of all of it!
What about your job do you like the most?
I am a very curious person and in my life I have chosen to never stop learning. At Kavalri Games I have the chance and the freedom to rejuvenate myself every day. Every day I learn new things, I learn how to use new tools and I enjoy all of this so much, it makes my job really fun and interesting.
What's your favorite gaming memory?
I have to admit I love board games maybe more than video games. They bring people together. So definitely my best memories related to games are the ones where I am with my best friends, sitting around a table, drinking beer and playing Dixit or Bang or RisiKo!.
How did you get into games?
I think it started at university, when a bunch of us decided to meet every Thursday to play D&D and well.. all of a sudden I was in!
If you were a character in an RPG, what would be your main positive vs. negative trait?
Well, the negative trait would definitely be clutteredness. I see myself as the queen of chaos, for real! A positive trait would be empathy, for sure!
If you were given a billboard for many people to see, what message would you put on it?
There is a sentence my father always used to tell me and it sounds more or less like this (translated from Italian): Do not ever underestimate the power of being just a simple, normal person. In this world everyone is trying to stand out, to excel, to be unique, that simplicity and normality have become the most rare thing in this world.
Do you have a weird and unexpected hobby?
I love - still - playing with Geomag. I could spend hours rearranging those magnetic things without really getting anywhere or building anything, just to clear my mind.
What advice would you give yourself ten years ago?
Don't be afraid of failure or not to being smart enough. If you want something, just go for it. No one is good at something without effort, so do it and don't be afraid!
What book would you give to everyone if you could?
The Old Man and The Sea by Ernest Hemingway
What's the weirdest thing you believe to be true?
I am 100% sure that alien exist. In fact, I find it rather pretentious that we believe we are the only form of intelligent life in this whole, immense universe (or even in other universes, which I do believe exist btw.)
Best purchase of 100$ or less?
Definitely a lacrosse ball for muscle pain, nothing can beat the self-massage you can get out of it!
Do you remember the time you laughed the hardest?
At New Years Eve, with my best friends, recalling stupid things we were doing when we were kids.
